eText for Schools is a software application designed specifically for text messaging in the school environment. Text messages can be sent and received directly from any number of staff computers, running Microsoft Windows.

eText provides a single, easy to use toolbar that gives you everything you need. It is similar to sending email - with address books, a message preparation and sending screen, and an inbox.

Contact details are available for the entire school, or broken down by year, class, bus routes, absentees, etc., using data from your school administration systems. Staff lists are also included. Broadcasts of a single message to parents of a complete class, year or the entire school can be achieved in minutes.

Custom address books can be created for particular school groups i.e. music groups, sports groups, etc., - in fact, any section of the school where a single message may need to reach many people quickly.

To make eText fast to use, routine messages can be created and held as Stock Messages. These can be re-used, with the variable data (e.g. student name, parent name, date, etc.) inserted automatically.

eText handles all incoming messages and identifies the senders by reference to the data from the school administrative systems. All incoming messages can be automatically acknowledged if required. Messages can be routed to the inbox of an administrator or attendance officer, or can be routed directly to individual teaching staff.

Management control

From a management point of view, comprehensive send and receive logs are kept, including retention of the message content. All logs can be printed in order for a permanent record of messages to be retained.

eText includes a full user security system to ensure that there is no unauthorised use of your text messaging service.

Interface with the networks

The eText for Schools application includes e-Messaging Server software to carry out the actual message delivery and receipt via a fast web portal. This is packaged with the client software for a single computer version, or can be installed centrally for a multi-computer network. Message credits can be purchased in advance, or paid on monthly usage.

Schools can communicate quickly and inexpensively with parents concerning school trips, bad weather closures, examination schedules, school events. Parents can be immediately informed of detention, or short term changes to school schedules. Schools can reduce truancy by chasing absence from school after registration.

Parents can send in notification of student absence or delay, with automatic acknowledgment from the school. They can reply immediately to enquiries regarding student absence, or can enquire about school schedules or events.
